Bio

Assistant Wrestling Coach Steven Schenk embarked on his coaching career at Shasta during the 2025 Fall season. He brings a wealth of coaching knowledge and an extensive background competing at the highest collegiate levels. Schenk was a 2x NCAA Division 1 National Qualifier for the University of Wyoming where he nearly reached the podium just finishing one match shy of All-American Honors, losing in the "blood round" of the 2001 NCAA Championships at 174 pounds. That same year, Schenk became the Western Regional Conference Champion. As a high school competitor at Anderson Union High School, he was a 3x CIF California State Place Winner, and a High School National All-American at the 1996 NHSCA tournament. Schenk has also won multiple Freestyle and Greco-Roman State titles and placed multiple years in both styles at the Fargo National Tournament receiving National All-American Honors.

As a coach, Steven has helped to produce several state place winners and All-Americans at the High School and College level, as well as multiple professional MMA fighters. He also had a career as a leader in church, non-profit, and business settings for 20 years that have helped to hone his ability to build a successful organization and provide coaching to wrestlers in pursuit of their athletic and academic goals. We are truly honored to have Steven be a part of Shasta College's Wrestling Program.
