Knights Open GVC Play With Loss
Shasta College falls at home to unbeaten Redwoods 2-1
REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's soccer team lost 2-1 to unbeaten College of the Redwoods at home in its Golden Valley Conference opener Friday.
The Knights (5-3-0, 0-1-0 GVC) have lost two straight matches since winning four straight for the first time in three years.
Shasta trailed 1-0 at half as Redwoods' Avery Bradley scored an unassisted goal in the 30th minute. Sophomore Rylie Pinnell assisted sophomore Haley Moebes in the 64th minute for the equalizer but the Corsairs' Emily Dahla scored with 16 minutes remaining for the difference maker.
Moebes has scored twice in the past three games for the Knights and Pinnell has a point in four of the past six matches.
Shasta freshman goalkeeper Paige Reed had two saves and allowed to goals in the loss.
